We were certainly blessed with a beautiful autumnal day which was reflected in the scores.
Bob W shot an excellent 71 regaining the Seventy over Seventy Shield. Very well done! Howard continues to improve with his first score in the 60’s which again gives him handicap winner of the week, just ahead of Simon’s personal best by 0.02 of a target!
Personal bests for the year were also achieved by Gary, Dave S and Bob W. Also Gary’s first 60 for a while.
It was also a day which Bob G had looked forward to for a while. His health had prevented him shooting for a long while. Bob is one of the original ‘Dodgers’ from many years ago. He struggled to get around the course but did manage a complete shoot. Thanks to Dave S in particular for the support he gave him.
The Claymate system seemed to operate reasonably OK. Trevor’s squad didn’t have a problem until the last stand when Dave had run out of credits because of the number of ‘no-birds’ he had experienced. Other members of the squad just managed to squeeze enough out of their cards for him to complete his round.
The main problem which could occur, is when someone is on the last stand and shooting very well, then having their concentration shattered through ‘no credit’. Probably best to check the number of remaining targets before starting to shoot under these circumstances.
At South Worcester, John was shooting his 28 gauge somewhat under his usual standard. It was suggested an improvement could be achieved if they had antlers!
A mention for Ian E who’s scores were not too shabby for a .410 at HWSG and SW!
