Some delays arriving at the ground this week as the County Council decided there hadn’t been sufficient disruption for the residents of Bromsgrove recently, and decided to do a ‘Traffic Survey’.
Robert was already there, back from his holiday and eager to shoot some clays (or is the new preferred word ‘neutralise’?). Trevor asked him if he had brought him a stick of rock and Robert replied that he had something much better. He produced a Corgi model of the Vulcan bomber (suitable for ages 5+). As Trevor is keen on all aspects Vulcan and having taken photographs of XH558 during her last display season, the model would be well placed on his book shelf alongside the appropriate books.
As recent shoots had been particularly demanding but never the less very enjoyable, KotR had been advised that this morning’s shoot would be a little ‘kinder’. Fingers crossed that Robert may yet achieve his Sixty over Sixty badge. The first stand offered two ‘sitters’, incoming across the pond. Robert missed his first target. Trevor (Vulcan model not entering into the equation) suggested that Rob’s first pair would be counted as ‘sighters’ and he could shoot them again as he was obviously suffering from ‘jet-lag’ following his long flight home from North Devon. Unfortunately, the sixty still eluded him but he did finish with a creditable 51.
Len and Bob W tied for high gun with 66/75. Len wins when the handicap is taken into consideration. Howard narrowly beat Peter for is week’s handicap medal, both shooting their personal best for the year. Li and Eric L also shot their personal bests so far this year.
Unfortunately, Suz was not able to repeat last week’s score in the ‘gully’ – should have borrowed Bob’s gun again… Scrutiny of her score card did find an extra two ‘neutralisations’ though!
At South Worcester, Len had invited Philip, who hadn’t fired a musket for about fifteen years. He soon settled into the ‘game’ and scored an excellent 58/100.
Trevor continued to miss all the crossers from the tower. Memories of rabbits are becoming the new nightmare!
