Congratulations to Eric for winning the Alan Painting Handicap Shield. This was a well-deserved victory. Incredibly, four people tied for high gun this week with 54/75. Eric is also this week’s high gun when this year’s handicap is taken into account and Howard is this week’s handicap winner.

Last year’s handicaps were used to determine the winner of Alan’s shield as they would provide a more accurate result than those being established so far this year. It was very close. Eric’s total was just 0.04 of a target greater than that of Howard’s!

For those of us who remember Alan, just take a few moments to remember his big smile and warm handshake. Always first in the car park on Wednesday morning and a pleasure to shoot with.

We had nineteen people shooting in four squads. Good to see that Gary and Nigel were able to make this particular trophy shoot. Unfortunately, Len was unable to attend as he was visiting Poland’s EU capital, Peterborough.

We had some very interesting targets which tested us all. The fact that 54 was our highest score indicates that we were all challenged. Sadly, some of us were left a little disappointed.

At South Worcester, John G managed to shoot a box of 28g cartridges as he is looking after his arm. Good but some annoying targets. It is rather frustrating when you see a target which you think is easy, and then you have difficulty hitting it. Had Len been there, many ‘bugger!’ would have echoed around Upton!

It should also be mentioned this week, that Keeper of the Rabbit, Trev Griffiths managed a straight on the high tower at South Worcs. A great effort there Trev, well done.

Butler’s Eric was High gun with 54/75. Average score was 40.6. Howard won the weekly handicap.

South Worcester Ian E was high gun and handicap winner with 69/100.

Butler’s Bob W was high gun and handicap winner 65/75. Average score was 43.9

South Worcester Len was high gun with 77/100. John G won the handicap
